Comparative Effect of Piagetian Symmetrical Vs. Vygostskyan Asymmetrical Scaffolding on EFL Learners’ Pragmatic Competence

Scaffolding is considered a salient part of EFL education for developing different language skills, especially better communication, and its inevitable impact on learners' psychological processes. The present experimental study primarily investigates the Piagetian symmetrical vs. Vygotskyan asymmetrical scaffolding pragmatic competence. To this end, researcher chose approximately 77 intermediate learners based results piloted OPT. Then, participants were randomly assigned to two groups 35 42 learners. In one group, (Peers' assistance) was employed, in other, (teachers' implemented as treatment. data analyses revealed that participants' competence improved significantly through scaffolding, suggesting receive assistance from teachers or competent peers. findings article embrace pedagogical theoretical implications curriculum planners, practitioners, teachers, learners, material developers.
